A team of four Year 1 Business School students of CUHK won the championship on 20 November in the ‘uShine Case Challenge 2011,’ organized by the Deloitte Club and sponsored by Deloitte Touche Tohmastsu. Over 140 teams took part and eight teams entered the final round. The contest, being held for the first time, aims to enhance undergraduates’ understanding of the accounting profession, and offer a platform to enrich their analytical, presentation and team-playing skills. The winning team comprised two International Business and Chinese Enterprise students Janice Sue Wong, Pepsi Leung, and two Global Business Studies students, Victor Kwok and Tony Law. They were awarded a cash prize of $6,000, and internship opportunities offered by Deloitte.

商學院四名一年級生於11月20日的uShine Case Challenge 2011中，擊敗本港逾一百四十支隊伍，成功奪冠。比賽由德樂會主辦、德勤會計師行贊助，今年首屆舉行，旨在提升大學生對會計行業的認識，訓練其分析、表達及合作能力。修讀國際貿易與中國企業的黃曉穎和梁栢斯，以及環球商業學學生郭凱傑和羅嘉傑獲頒六千元現金獎，並獲德勤聘為暑期實習生。

Two fresh graduates of the Master of Architecture Programme of the School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been selected to enter the Architectural Design Internship Programme (the Programme) established by The Wharf ArchDesign Resource Trust (the WART) of The Wharf (Holdings) Limited, one of the major property developers in Hong Kong and China.

香港中文大學（中大）建築學院兩名碩士課程畢業生獲選參加由九龍倉建築設計資源基金（基金）於本年新成立的「建築設計實習計劃」。九龍倉集團有限公司是本港及中國區內最具規模的地產發展商之一。

Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has been elected an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), in recognition of his remarkable achievements and contributions in the field of gastroenterology. Professor Sung is the only Hong Kong scientist to receive the honour in 2011.

香港中文大學（中大）校長沈祖堯教授獲選為2011年中國工程院院士，為本屆唯一入選的香港科學家，以表彰他在消化系統病領域作出的重大成就和貢獻。

著名雕塑家朱銘博士應香港中文大學（中大）邀請，於12月14日在大學校園主持公開講座，題目為「藝術即修行」。講座吸引逾五百名文化及展覽界、學界、公眾人士，以及中大師生和校友聽講，反應非常熱烈，全場爆滿；大會更在現場加設座位，並在另一講廳安排直播，以容納不斷慕名而來的聽講人士。朱銘博士於12月15日舉行的第七十屆大會上獲大學授予榮譽文學博士學位。

於講座上，朱銘博士分享其藝術之路及作品的幕後故事，並闡述其獨特的美學觀──「藝術即修行」。藝術和修行融合的過程，即是在丟捨之中得到自我，創造出藝術的成就。朱博士以歷來的作品，具體說明其藝術創作，如何從雕塑外在形態演變至內心反省的心路歷程。

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) presented a public lecture on 5 December on ‘Steps to Limit Future Global Economic Crises’ by Prof. Peter A. Diamond, 2010 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences. The lecture drew a full house of over 400 academics, students, members of the commercial, financial and political sectors, as well as the general public.

新鴻基地產（新地）及香港中文大學（中大）邀得2010年諾貝爾經濟學獎得主彼得．戴蒙德教授於12月5日來港舉行講座，講述「防患於未然：遏止全球經濟陷入危機的步驟」，吸引逾四百名學者、學生、政商界人士，以及公眾分享其真知灼見，現場座無虛席，反應非常熱烈。

A research team led by Prof. Kam-bo Wong of the Centre for Protein Science and Crystallography, School of Life Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has released its research results which show how a bacterium, Helicobacter pylori, that infects half of the human population, causing peptic ulcers and stomach cancer worldwide, has managed to survive in the acidic environment of the human gut. The research paper has been selected as ‘Paper of the Week’ in Journal of Biological Chemistry, for its important implications in the design of new drugs to blunt H. pylori’s impact on human body.

香港中文大學（中大）生命科學學院蛋白質科學與晶體研究中心黃錦波教授及其研究團隊最近發表一項研究結果，揭示了幽門螺旋桿菌（Helicobacter pylori）如何在人體胃部的酸性環境中生存。幽門螺旋桿菌可引致消化性潰瘍甚至胃癌，現時全球已有一半人口受感染。此項研究成果有助研發治療幽門螺旋桿菌感染的新藥物，獲選為學術期刊Journal of Biological Chemistry的「本周最佳論文」。

In the 25th USFHK Cross-Country Race 2011 held on 20 November, the CUHK men’s team, consisting of 10 athletes, achieved outstanding results and clinched the championship. Yip Tung-hoi, a team member, grabbed the 1st runner-up in men’s individual and CUHK got the overall 2nd runner-up. Yip Tung-hoi said the team put much effort into the competition and trained every Monday and Thursday, rain or shine. Many alumni attended and gave support to the team on that morning which boosted their morale.

第廿五屆香港大專體育協會越野賽於11月20日舉行，中大男子越野長跑隊十位成員以總分壓倒其他隊伍，獲男子團體冠軍。葉東海同學更奪得男子個人全場亞軍，中大並獲男女子團體季軍。 葉東海表示，他們優勝之處是練習比別人多，每逢周一和周四都會一起訓練，風雨不改。而比賽當天不少師兄師姐很早來到打氣及歡呼，振奮了隊員的士氣，令他們非常感動。

"This morning when I flipped through the programme of our degree conferring ceremony and glanced through your names, I laid my hands on the list and prayed for each and every one of you. I pray that after you leave school, you will live a life that is worth living. You may ask: What is a life that is worth living?"
