The Watoto Children's Choir, consisting of children orphaned by AIDS or the war in Uganda, re-visited the Chinese University and sang at Ho Sin Hang Hall, S.H. Ho College, on the evening of 29 February. The soulful blend of native African rhythms and ethnic dance impressed some 700 members of the audience, including Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung (5th right, below), Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Sung (6th right), Prof. Sun Sai-ming Samuel (4th left), Master of S.H. Ho College, Mrs. Sun (3rd left), Mr. David Chan (an alumnus and a donor of the I‧CARE Programme) and his family (1st to 3rd right) who rose to their feet and danced along with the music.

由非洲烏干達愛滋及戰亂遺孤組成的Watoto兒童合唱團重臨中大，於2月29日晚上在善衡書院何善衡館獻唱。充滿動感的非洲節奏和舞蹈，帶出感恩積極的胸懷，台下逾七百名觀眾深受感染，紛隨音樂舞動，當中包括沈祖堯校長伉儷（下圖右五及六）、善衡書院院長辛世文教授伉儷（左三及四 ）、中大校友及I‧CARE博群計劃捐助者之一陳力旋伉儷及其女兒（右一至三）。

Twenty three outstanding students of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been awarded the Scholarship for Prospective English Teachers 2011/12 by the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government, accounting for the largest share of the total 50 awards available to students of various local tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. The award-receiving CUHK students come from three programmes related to English training or teaching, including English (5 students), English Studies and English Language Education (12 students) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (6 students).

香港中文大學（中大）共二十三名優秀學生獲頒香港特別行政區政府教育局第二屆「準英語教師獎學金」，囊括近半數獎學金名額，成為獲得最多獎學金名額的院校。獲獎的中大生分別來自三個英語培訓相關的全日制課程，當中五名主修英文、十二名主修英國語文研究及英國語文教育，另六名就讀學位教師教育文憑課程。

A team of law students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) are heading to Washington DC for the world championship rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. CUHK won the right to represent Hong Kong after winning the regional qualifier against teams from The University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong.

香港中文大學（中大）法律學院一隊學生正積極備戰，準備前往美國首府華盛頓，代表香港參加Philip C. Jessup國際法模擬法庭比賽國際賽。中大代表隊早前於香港區選拔賽中，成功擊敗香港大學和香港城市大學兩隊隊伍，獲得出線資格。

Three students each from the School of Architecture and the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care have been granted this year’s Hong Kong Housing Society Award. Officiated by Mr. Marco Wu, vice-chairman of the society, the presentation ceremony was held on 11 February.

建築學院和賽馬會公共衞生及基層醫療學院各有三位學生獲頒本年度香港房屋協會獎助學金，頒獎典禮於2月11日舉行，由該會副主席鄔滿海先生主禮。

Yasmine Zahir (Law, Year 4), a French minor in the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, triumphed in the French Speech Competition over 12 students from universities in Hong Kong, Guangdong and Guangxi held on 25 February. The contest was co-organized by the French Consulate of Hong Kong and Macau, and the Association of French Teachers in Hong Kong and Macau. The theme of this year was 'Le Delta de la Rivière des Perles, porte de la Chine (The Pearl River Delta as the Door of China)'. Yasmine was awarded a fully-sponsored three-week language immersion course in Nancy, France.

語言學及現代語言系法語副修課程學生Yasmine Zahir（法律學院四年級），在2月25日舉行的粵港大學生法語演講比賽中，擊敗十二名來自珠江三角洲，包括香港、廣東和廣西等地優秀大學的參賽者奪得冠軍。是次比賽由法國駐港澳總領事館及港澳法語教師協會合辦，比賽的主題為「珠江三角洲─中國之門」。Yasmine獲得全數獎學金赴法國南錫參加為期三周的法語課程。


Prof. David C.L. Liu, William Mong Honorary Chair Professor of Computer Science, Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, and Sir Run Run Shaw Distinguished Visiting Scholar 2011–12, spoke on ‘A College Student of the 21st Century: Educated and Civilized’ at Shaw College on 8 February.

台灣清華大學蒙民偉榮譽講座教授劉炯朗教授應邀出任2011至12年度邵逸夫爵士傑出訪問學人，並於2月8日假逸夫書院大講堂主持講座，講題為「二十一世紀的大學生：教育和教養」。

The CUHK Women's Squash Team defeated players from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to clinch the championship of the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong Cup on 25 February.It took the best of three games to win the match. Miss Leung Shin-nga (Sports Science and Physical Education, Year 3) of CUHK team won in the first game. Miss Mak Pui-hin (Chinese Medicine, Year 2), playing in the second game, lost to her opponent's aggressive and physical play in the first two sets. Having taken advice from her coach, Mr. Chan Chi-ming, instructor of Physical Education Unit (PEU), and cheered on by Mr. Lo Yuen-cheong, director of PEU, her teammates, players’ parents and alumni, Pui-hin played with calm and confidence, and started to control the pace and adjust her tactics. She then won over her counterpart in the following three sets to capture the trophy for CUHK.

中大女子壁球校隊於2月25日擊敗香港理工大學，衞冕「大專盃」壁球冠軍。 賽事以三盤兩勝決勝負，中大梁善雅（體育運動科學系三年級）先拔頭籌勝出首場。接着由麥珮軒（中醫學院二年級）出戰，但首兩局不敵對方強悍壓迫及體力化的打法而落敗，經教練體育部導師陳志明先生提點，以及在場的體育部主任盧遠昌先生、隊友、親友和校友打氣後，沉着應戰，調整節奏及策略，連贏三局反勝，終助中大隊摘下冠軍獎盃。

New Asia / Yale Student Exchange Programme
新亞書院／耶魯大學學生交流活動

The theme of this year’s exchange is “Capitalism and Society”. Professor Sidney Cheung from the Department of Anthropology led eight New Asia student representatives to visit Yale University from 21 January to 5 February 2012. Our students also visited New York City and Washington D.C. Yale students are paying a reciprocal visit to our College from 4 to 17 March 2012.

本學年耶魯與本院學生交流活動主題為 「資本主義與社會」, 人類學系張展鴻 教授率領本院八位同學於一月二十一日至二月五日訪問美國耶魯大學，與耶魯學生 交流兩地資本主義與社會問題，順道訪問紐約 及美國首都華盛頓。耶魯大學學生則於三月四日至十七日回訪本院。
