Professional Social Work Course with Longest History in Hong Kong

The programme prepares students to become professional social workers committed to the well-being of their clients and social justice. It places heavy emphasis on small group learning and uses a variety of learning activities, such as seminars, role-play and experiential learning to enhance students’ personal, intellectual and professional growth. The curriculum incorporates a practicum component where students undergo supervised practice in field agencies, integrating classroom learning with practice.

Global Exposure

To develop a cultural sensitivity and global perspective in students, academic exchange activities and non-local field placement opportunities in Canada, Singapore, Taiwan and on the mainland of China are provided.

Professional Recognition

This programme is recognised by the Hong Kong Social Workers Registration Board. Upon graduation, students are eligible to become Registered Social Workers in Hong Kong.

Note 1: Please note that admission to the University is on a competitive basis. Apart from public examination results, applicants' other learning experiences, prior education, and interview performance (if any) will also be considered.

Note 2: For score conversion of Category C: Other Language subjects, Grade A = 5 / Grade B = 4 / Grade C = 3 / Grade D = 2 / Grade E = 1

Note 3For 2021 entry, the best result in the same subject taken by a candidate in his/her three most recent attempts of the HKDSE examination will be used for calculation of the admission score.
