HOUSING INFORMATION

The deadline for housing application is 12 April 2012 . Some housing--the university guesthouse in particular--is scarce, so rooms will be reserved on a first-come-first served basis.
The procedure for housing is this: fill in your preference in the registration form when you register for the conference. We will only process your accommodation request after you have paid the registration fee. Then we will confirm your reservation with a payment request as soon as possible. Afterwards, please make the payment for accommodation within two weeks. Otherwise, the room reservation will be automatically cancelled. Once payment is made, it is not refundable. There are four options for housing at the conference.

(1) Student dormitory, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

These are a 15-minute walk from the conference venue. However, as they are undergraduate student dormitories, the rooms are very basic and only have shared bathrooms. Sheets and pillowcases will be provided, however, you must bring your own towel and toothbrush.
As the male and female dormitories are separate; couples, unfortunately, cannot share a room.
The payment should be made within two weeks after receiving the confirmation and payment request through the online paying system with credit cards.
Options for occupancy include:

  • 1 single bed in a shared room: HKD 80 per night
  • 1 private room with 2 single beds : HKD 160 per night

(2) University Guesthouse, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The University Guesthouse is situated at Chan Kwan Tung guesthouse on campus and is a 15-minute walk from the conference venue. The rooms are relatively modest, but have private bathrooms, telephones, and televisions. However, the wifi-connection from the guesthouse is relatively weak. Also, in July, the hotel will undergo renovation which might cause noise during the daytime.
The payment should be made within two weeks after receiving the confirmation and payment request through the online paying system with credit cards.
Options for occupancy include:

  • Single room: HKD 360 per night
  • 1 single bed in a shared room: HKD 220 per night
  • 1 private room with 2 single beds: HKD 440 per night
  • Superior room: HKD 500 per night

(3) Hyatt Regency Hotel, University Train Station

The Hyatt is a deluxe hotel located at the university train station, which is 10 minutes away from the conference venue on foot. Breakfast will not be included but there are some bakeries on the way to the conference venue from the hotel.
The payment will be made directly at the hotel upon arrival in Hong Kong, although we will handle the reservation for you.
Options for occupancy include:

  • Single Room: 1 Single Bed, $995 + 10% tax per room per night.
  • Twin Room: 2 Single Beds, $1,063 + 10% tax per room per night.

(4) Chungking Mansions, Tsim Sha Shui

Chungking Mansions is a center of “low-end globalization” in Hong Kong and probably the most international building in the world; it’s a fascinating place to stay, although the rooms are small. The price will be roughly HKD 150-250 per night, depending on the guesthouse and what you seek.  Chungking Mansions is a 30-minute train ride to CUHK, followed by a 10-minute walk to the EAAA conference site. More detailed information on accommodations in Chungking Mansions will be given later, but for now, we simply want to see who is interested: sign up and let us know. Your payment will be made directly at the guesthouse, but we will handle reservations for you.

Please note that payment is not refundable once it is made.
