入學資格

本課程專為不同學科的大學畢業生,特別是講授通識教育的中學教師,提供文化人類學的訓練。中學通識教育課程的重要內容之一是對文化差異的理解,而這正是文化人類學的學科領域。總之,本課程的授課對象是已擁有大學學位,對文化人類學有興趣,但因種種原因未能入讀修課式碩士課程的人士。此課程並可銜接人類學文學碩士課程。

申請人在申請時請提交一些學術論文或報告供學部審閱。申請人亦須符合研究院「英語能力規定」的條件,方獲考慮取錄入學。詳情請參閱「研究院概覽」或瀏覽研究院網頁(http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/gss)。

 

課程

學生須修讀十五學分(五個三學分科目)方可畢業,其中包括一門必修科:人類學研究方法;其餘四門為選修課。全日制修讀時間最短為一學年,最長為三年。兼讀制學生修讀時間為兩年至四年。

修課式文學碩士及文化人類學學士後文憑的申請截止日期,現延至2008年5月9日。由於處理申請需時,申請人如欲提早得到入學通知,請盡早提出申請。

Background & Objectives

New Postgraduate Diploma Programme

This program aims to provide university graduates from a range of backgrounds the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in anthropology. The program is particularly designed to appeal to secondary school teachers of Liberal Studies, since one component of Liberal Studies is the understanding of culture and cultural difference, Anthropology's forte. More broadly, it is designed for university graduates in any field who are interested in Anthropology, but who have not had the training necessary for admission to the Master of Arts in Anthropology Programme.  

 
 Programme Information

  • Mode of Study:  
    Full-time tuition fee (one year): HK$36,000
    Part-time tuition fee (1st year): HK$22,000
    Part-time tuition fee (2nd year): HK$16,000
    Additional course (over 15 units) is charged at $2,400 per unit
  • Normative Study Period
    Students are required to complete a minimum of 15 units of postgraduate courses for graduation, normally within 1 year for full-time students and 2 years for part-time students.
  • Maximum Study Period
    Diploma requirements can be completed in as short a time as one academic year of full-time study, but can be spread over three years. Part-time students can earn the diploma in 2 years, or spread the courses over four years

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum entry requirements
    All applicants should possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. 
  • Other requirements
    In addition to the general qualifications, all applicants must also fulfill the English Language Proficiency Requirement as stipulated by the Graduate School before being considered for admission. Please refer to the "Postgraduate Prospectus" issued by the Graduate School for details on these requirements

Study Program Requirements

  • Total No. of Units Required for Graduation: 15 credit units
  • Study Scheme
    Required course: 3 units  ANT5610 Anthropological Field Methods  
  •  Elective courses: 12 units
    Students may choose from the 5000-level courses:
    -- All are 3-unit courses and the minimum grade is C-
    Courses offered by the Department (including syllabi) 
    Student may choose not more than 9 units from the following 4000-level courses, with prior approval from the Graduate Division 
  •  IT Proficiency Requirement
    All postgraduate students are required to pass the IT Proficiency Test before they graduate. Students who have previously passed the International Computer Driving License Test or the IT Proficiency Test at another CUHK programme may apply for exemption.
  • Graduation Requirement
    All students must meet all the program requirements, pass all the assessments and obtain a cumulative overall GPA of at least 2.0 in order to graduate.
