The Hong Kong Anthropological Society
will award a prize of HK$1,500 to an undergraduate or postgraduate student each
year if an essay of suitable excellence is received. This prize aims to encourage
and reward anthropological research on Hong Kong, China, East Asia, or any part
of the world. All full-time undergraduates and postgraduates at higher-education
institutions in Hong Kong are eligible to apply. Teachers and academic departments
are also encouraged to nominate their students who have done original research
of a high standard. Each application or nomination should be accompanied by
an original research essay, written either in English or in Chinese.
A selection panel will be nominated yearly by the Executive Committee of the
Hong Kong Anthropological Society. The panel will recommend candidates for the
prize, based on the originality and organization of the research. The Executive
Committee will make final decisions based on the recommendation.
The deadline for submission of applications is generally in July of each year;
an application may be found below. Applications, accompanied by the essay, should
be sent by e-mail to cmgordon@cuhk.edu.hk
; the essay should be sent as an attachment using MS Word.
