Welcome to the website of the CUHK-BGI Innovation Institute of Trans-omics (the Innovation Institute).

Inaugurated on 18 July 2011, the Innovation Institute was jointly established between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and BGI (Beijing Genomics Institute)–Shenzhen. As embedded in the term “Trans-omics”, we aim to provide a platform conducive to training of multi-disciplinary talents conversant with the knowledge and application of genomics, proteomics, genetics , computation biology and bioinformatics, by capitalizing on both institutions’ expertise and strengths in genomic science.

CUHK has many professionally trained academics from Faculties of Medicine, Science and Engineering who possess expertise in different fields of genomic science.  Together with the formation of the Graduate Division of Genomics and Bioinformatics and the contribution from the BGI-Shenzhen, the Innovation Institute will be better positioned in delivering quality academic programmes for training individuals who are interested in joining the emerging industry in genomics, bioinformatics and personalized medicine. In 2011/2012, the Innovation Institute launched its postgraduate programme in Genomics and Bioinformatics.  It is our plan to launch by phrase a few more academic programmes in the fields of genomic sciences  in the next few years and to initiate a number of collaborative research projects with active participation of our clinicians, in the hope of advancing the application of genomic and proteomic research in clinical medicine.
