The Centre for the Study of Religion and Chinese
Society (CSRCS), Chung Chi College, The Chinese
University of Hong Kong was established in November
1996. As the first research Centre of Chung Chi
College, it was firmly grounded in the rich religious
and humanistic heritage and history of the College.
Chung Chi College has been blessed with her historical
heritage from the 13 Christian universities and
colleges in pre-1949 China. Since its establishment
in 1951, Chung Chi College has played a significant
leading role both in Chinese and Christian tertiary
education. Chung Chi College began to provide
religious education and theological training programmes
as early as in 1957. Being one of the constituent
colleges of The Chinese University of Hong Kong,
Chung Chi College endeavours to promote education
and research at university level.
Hence, CSRCS aims at providing high-quality academic
activities for the benefit of College members,
as well as academics of the region at large, by
drawing upon the resources and support of academic
