Professor Leung Yuen Sang, Head
of Chung Chi College, will take leave on March 4 and 5, 2007 for
an official visit to Nanjing University. During his leave period,
Professor Fong Wing Ping, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry
and College Dean of Students, has been appointed the Acting Head
of Chung Chi College.
“PASSION REKINDLED” EXHIBITION BY MRS. LONITTA HEUNG
The “Passion Rekindled” Exhibition
by Mrs. Lonitta Heung will be staged at the Lobby Gallery, Chung
Chi College Administration Building from March 7 to April 4, 2007.
This special visual art event is presented in celebration of the
College 55th Anniversary.
Mrs. Heung has devoted herself to Chinese artistic culture for
over ten years and has been working on art creations under the “Passion
Rekindled” series since 2002. Created with spectacular traditional
Chinese art techniques, Mrs. Heung’s works, including sachets, pouches
and camera pockets, depict her passion for life. Her works was selected
for the Philippe Charriol Foundation Art Exhibition 2005 and have
been displayed at Time Square and the Central Library of Hong Kong.
Mrs. Heung also engages herself in the promotion of arts and culture
by serving as a docent for the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the Hong
Kong Museum of Art and the Art Museum of CUHK.
The opening ceremony of “Passion Rekindled” Exhibition by Mrs.
Lonitta Heung will be held on March 7, 2007 (Wednesday) at 4:30
p.m. in the Lobby Gallery of Chung Chi College Administration Building.

The Noontime Oasis on Campus is presented
regularly at the College Chapel during lunch break from 1:20 to 2:00
p.m. every Thursday when class is in session, except on public holidays
or when Campus Christian Fellowship Luncheons are being held. The
series is designed to provide a breathing space for students and teachers
to refresh and refuel themselves amidst their daily cramming, teaching
and tight assignment schedules.
On March 1, 15, 22 and 29, 2007, all Thursdays, there will be
sacred music appreciation.

(2) Environmental Protection Cup
Organized by the Campus Environment Committee of the College,
the Environmental Protection Cup 2007 will be held in March 2007.
It aims to arouse students’ general awareness on environmental protection
and encourage them to support environmental conservation through
a series of inter-hostel competitions. Programmes include Competitions
on Greening Hostel, Hostel Water Saving, Hostel Electricity Saving,
Bring Your Own Lunch Box For Take Away Orders, and Bring Your Own
Bags. Prizes will be presented in a Friday Assembly in April 2007.
This year, with the enthusiastic input from residents’ associations,
a new competition item Greening Hostel has been planned. The objectives
of this competition are to give Chung Chi students a chance to bring
their environmental ideas into practice, and also to raise their
awareness in protecting the natural environment. It is hoped that
through the Environmental Protection Cup, residents will develop
new environmental habits in daily lives and lead the trend in environmental

(3) Campus Tour on “Flowers at Chung Chi College”
The Chung Chi College Campus Environment Committee is going to
organize a campus tour on “Flowers at Chung Chi College” on March
31, 2007 (Saturday). Dr. Lau Tai Wai David, plant connoisseur, and
Dr. Yung Kung Hing, Senior College Tutor, have been invited to introduce
the flowers on Chung Chi campus.
Dr. Lau Tai Wai David is a well-known plant connoisseur and Chinese
medicine researcher. He has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute
of Chinese Medicine, CUHK since 2005. Besides, he is also one of
the key members of the Hong Kong Flora and Vegetation project, which
is supported by the Quality Education Fund to set up plant study
sites and trails in different parts of the teritory, with an aim
of encouraging students to explore deeper and broader into local
flora and vegetation beyond those covered in schools.
Dr. Yung Kung Hing is the Senior College Tutor of Chung Chi College.
Since his retirement from the Department of Biology at CUHK about
ten years ago, he has been working intensively on the College campus
improvement projects, including the one on Lake Ad Excellentiam.
Dr. Yung is also the chief editor of “Chung Chi Plants”, one of
the publications under the Chung Chi College Golden Jubilee book
series.
Those who are interested to learn more about the flowers grown
on Chung Chi Campus should not miss the coming campus tour. Details

“BEYOND THE LILY POND” – VISIT TO CK LIFE SCIENCES
The “Beyond the Lily Pond” Sub-Committee
of the College Student Life Committee will organize a visit to the
CK Life Sciences International on March 24, 2007 (Saturday) from
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. CK Life Sciences is a well-known firm
in the business of research and development, commercialization,
marketing and sale of biotechnology products. During the visit,
there will be presentations by its corporate representatives, video
viewing and laboratory tours.
No fee is required. Free transportation between Chung Chi campus
and the CK Life Sciences will be provided. For registration and

conferences or seminars held abroad, joining overseas programmes
organized by the College, the University, or other registered student
bodies including the College’s Language Study Abroad Programme and

the student exchange programme starting the first term of 2007/08,
but are with financial difficulties can apply for interest-free
College Undergraduate Travel Loan. Application forms are obtainable

CHUNG CHI MEMBER NAMED EXEMPLARY TEACHERS IN GENERAL

Dr. Wong Wing Hung, Senior Instructor,

of Professor Angel Lin, Associate Professor in the Department of
Curriculum and Instruction and Warden of Hua Lien Tang, passed away
on February 19, 2007 at the age of 78.
