This course provides an introduction to the comparative analysis of the political structures and processes in the Asian states with special attention to the relevant historical, cultural and social settings. It will address one or several linked problems and topics, such as elections, political participation, nationalism, state-building and nation-building, labour politics, democratization, trade policy/politics, political accountability, constitutionalism and public opinion.
