We are pleased to announce that the 20th International Conference on Yue Dialects will be held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on December 11-12, 2015. The Conference is organized by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, co-organized by the T. T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, Institute of Chinese Studies, and sponsored by the Faculty of Arts, New Asia College, United College, and the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong. The theme of the Conference is on "Comparative Grammar", with a special focus on the properties of Cantonese grammar under formal approaches, diachronic grammar, and interface studies. We cordially invite abstracts for submission on all aspects of linguistics of Cantonese and other Yue dialects, preferably associated with the theme.  

Details of the Conference are as follows:
Submission of Abstracts
We invite abstracts for submission on all aspects of linguistics of Cantonese and other Yue dialects, preferably associated with the theme on “Comparative Grammar”  . Talks will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.

1)      All submitted abstracts can be written in English or in Chinese and limited to one single-spaced A4 page, with 1-inch margin all around. Use font size 12 throughout.

2)      Please submit TWO versions of your abstract to the Organizing: one with the name and the affiliation and one without. The abstract must be submitted electronically to the Organizing Committee by email at yue20@cuhk.edu.hk

3)      Abstracts submitted must be in both MS Word format AND PDF format.

4)      Please fill in the Abstract Submission Form and submit it with the abstract to the Organizing Committee, which includes the following information: (1) Title of the paper, (2) Name(s) of Author(s), (3) Institutional Affiliation(s), (4) Contact Address, and (5) E-mail address. We will accept at most one single-authored work AND one joint-authored work by an individual.

5)      All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously. Only those abstracts that are accepted can be chosen for presentation.

A selected number of papers will be accepted for publication in a special volume of Current Research in Chinese Linguistics (ISSN 1726-9245) based on their merit and preferably relevance to the theme of the Conference.
