Postgraduate students in Arts, Business Administration, Education, Law & Social Science who are in the process of writing their theses. Students can enroll only if they have at least a research proposal already prepared and normally are in their second or later years of their graduate degree programmes.


Objectives & Description
  At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
1. Describe the basic structure and function of different chapters of a thesis
2. Summarize, paraphrase and quote in the correct academic style
3. Adopt a formal style and tone in academic writing
4. Apply a variety of strategies for improving lexis, sentence complexity, and grammar accuracy
5. Apply a variety of strategies and editing techniques for clear and concise writing
6. Analyse and critque samples of published academic writing
7. Use references and resources on the CUForum for self-initiated web-based language learning
