Evaluation Checklist

1.     Things you can prepare before your Learning Object is finished:

¨     Review the standard set of review questions and customize them for your object.  The questions focus around the Design & Functionality, Quality of Content, Learning Potential and Quality of your Learning Object’s LRC record. It is recommended that you limit the total number of questions to 20, if possible.

¨     Draft an informative record for your Learning Object in the LRC. An example is provided for your guidance. It will be helpful to keep the evaluation questions in mind when you are creating the record.

¨     Compile a list of 3-6 peer reviewers who would be willing to look at your project.  The peer reviewers should be from your field but do not have to be located in Hong Kong.

¨     Set up the online questionnaire (i.e. within the LRC, SurveyMonkey.com, WebCT, etc.) or create a paper-based one. Make sure you test your online survey before you begin your evaluation.

2.     When your Learning Object is complete:

¨     Double check that the Learning Object is ready for evaluation.  Check that everything is working correctly (links, animations, video, etc.).

¨     Send out your survey with a deadline of 2-3 weeks.  Remember: during the evaluation period do not change your Learning Object or the record in the LRC.  In this way, all of the evaluators will be commenting on the same material.

¨     Send out a reminder notice.  As the deadline approaches send people reminder notices with another copy of the questionnaire to those who have not completed the review.

¨     If necessary, extend the deadline. Try not to extend it much more than another week or you will find the process continues to stretch out forever.

¨     Close your evaluation. Notify your reviewers that the evaluation is closed. Remember to thank them for their feedback.

3.     When your peer reviews are complete:

¨     Download/enter the data.

¨     Analyze and reflect on the feedback you have been given.

¨     If you wish, display or link the data within the LRC. Try to find a reader-friendly way to do this. If you used the LRC to conduct your survey, you can use their built in tools to do this.  Or you can create your own report and put a link to it in the comments area of your LRC record (see one of the trail objects for an example).
