Detail: Flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which students study course materials at home and their teacher conducts in-class individual and group tasks to enable students to consolidate conceptions of understanding. Currently, video-based materials are widely adopted by many teachers while implementing flipped learning in universities.

TechSmith Camtasia Studio 8 is one of the popular eLearning tools to capture screen in a video format. It enables you to create narrated teaching materials in PowerPoint slides or other digital teaching resources, making scripted explanation like courses offered in Khan Academy, or having professional productions as in MOOCs. Moreover, you can build quizzes in the videos to check students’ understanding before they attend your flipped teaching.

In this practical workshop, you will experience the steps in creating a mini-lecture. This includes hand-on experience to (1) create a narrated PowerPoint/dataset through Camtasia Studio, (2) edit the video, and (3) build in quizzes. Once you have mastered these steps in creating your video-based teaching materials, you can create a value-added learning environment because you may empower your students to become self-regulated learners.
