Teaching and Learning Community of Practice – The Artificial Intelligence for Education Journal Club

Description: The Artificial Intelligence for Education subgroup of Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (T&L COP) invites teachers to a new format of Webinar entitled ‘Journal Club’. This session will give CUHK teachers an insight into cutting edge uses of AI and related technologies in educational settings through the review and summary of recent publications on Artificial Intelligence and related technologies used for education.

In this one-hour-long first session, we will present a summary of:
  • One review paper (15 mins)
  • One in-depth educational use-case for AI on the topic of ‘Developing a mobile app - VocabGo with AR and VR to enhance young learners’ vocabulary learning in a seamless learning environment’ (15 mins)
  • One ‘quick-fire’ round of 2-3 short papers with brilliant or novel ideas (15 mins)
  • 15 minutes for Q&A and discussion
Speakers will give an overview of the study and highlight important points which could be methodological or pedagogical considerations, experimental design or emergent technology use.

After attending, we hope that participants will be stimulated to discuss ideas amongst colleagues, conduct their own pilot studies, apply for educational grants and produce scholarly outputs from the ideas generated.

The reviews will be conducted by subgroup leader Dr. Christopher SEE from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Dr. Yanjie SONG from The Education University of Hong Kong.
