Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants @ CU
Facilitator: Professor Paul Lam
Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research

Detail: We can easily observe that our students are in general very comfortable with computers, digital devices and technology-enhanced methods of communication. Just how literate are our students with the technologies? How do they (the so-called digital natives) differ from their teachers (the digital immigrants) many of whom had to adapt to technology at a later time of their life? The workshop reports on a recent study at CUHK. The first phase involved over 800 students and the second phase involved over 400 year 1 students and 100 of their teachers. We will discuss the implications of the findings with regard to constructing effective learning environments for our students.

Date: Postponed. To be scheduled again in next term.

Time: 2:30pm - 4:30pm
Venue: Room 405, William M.W. Mong Engineering Building
(next to Ho Sin-Hang Engineering Building)
