New teaching and learning opportunities on mobile devices
Facilitator: Professor Paul LAM
Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Detail: Mobile technology has advanced rapidly in recent years. Typical medium-prized mobile devices, such as mobile phones and light-weight notebook computers, are often equipped with internet connectivity (e.g. WiFi or GPRS) and have computer-processing capabilities that allow quite sophisticated programs to run. Mobile devices certainly outperform desktop computers in portability. The potential of using mobile devices as real ‘anytime, anywhere’ learning devices is significant. Participants will have hands-on experience with some mobile technologies in the workshop, including eBooks on handheld devices, possible uses of QR codes for learning, and accessing course websites/ content/ discussions on mobile devices.
