A Smorgasbord of Ideas for Active Learning IV: Classroom Activities that Make Learning Active

Detail: The Learning Activity Project (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/clear/LA) at CLEAR promotes effective learning activities at CUHK. The workshop series “A Smorgasbord of Ideas for active learning” is one of our efforts in facilitating the sharing of good ideas of effective learning-activity designs among fellow CUHK teachers. In this workshop, we will concentrate on what and how learning activities can be conducted inside classroom to facilitate active learning.

Three CUHK teachers are to share with us their innovative classroom activities.
  • Dr Fred Ku (Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics) – Adopting Peer-created Multimedia Resources in Teaching & Learning
  • Dr Ann Lau, assisted with students Mr Ka Ho Hui & Ms Ka Man Chan (School of Biomedicial Sciences) – Teaching Students with Heterogeneous Backgrounds: Challenges and Strategies
  • Prof Ian Morley (Department of History) – Maps in History: Reading Maps to Understand 1800s British Culture
