Project Objectives

The project aims at investigating assessment strategies other than formal tests/examinations that are likely to be successful in the teaching of science subjects with a view to framing system-level improvements in assessment.

Evaluation of outcomes

The project was monitored by CLEAR. Quantitative and qualitative feedback collected is highly positive (summarized in the project website and the paper below).

  • A booklet that collects recent initiatives in science programmes is under preparation

  • Presented a poster in the Teaching and Learning Innovative ExPo 2007 organized by CUHK and obtained the Poster Award.
  • Launched the website http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/sci/TDG/index.htm
  • Published the paper “Improving assessment methods in university science education with negotiated self- and peer-assessment” by 4 investigators in the Journal of Assessment in Education, 2009, 16, 345-360.
