Project Objectives

The primary objective is to promote and transform mLearning to be a sustainable teaching and learning strategy at CUHK.

Description of process, outcomes or deliverable

The project comprised a number of software and hardware solutions, with each one developed in four consecutive stages. Stage one involved in testing and investigating individual system requirements, demand and feasibility. Stage two consisted of creating a portal by developing and installing systems identified in stage one. The portal was launched in stage three by recruiting teachers to participating in pilot tests for a particular mLearning strategy, which gave rise to feedback for improving the portal. Last stage of the project allowed the resources and support to be available to all teachers and students at CUHK.

Evaluation

The project has developed five strategies:

  • eBooks;
  • Classroom communication system such as web-based ‘clickers’;
  • QR codes;
  • mobile moodle;
  • website mLearning@CUHK.
  • Results from the pilot tests for each one of these strategies revealed, in general, positive comment about how the system had transformed and enhanced teaching and learning experiences.

    Dissemination, diffusion and impact

  • Individual consultations.
  • Several workshops.
  • MLearning website. http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/mlearning
  • 1 journal paper; 4 full conference papers; 6 Expo presentations.
