Project Objectives

To nurture T-shaped characters who can develop the depth of expertise in a single field (the vertical bar of the T) while retaining their ability to communicate and collaborate with others from different disciplines (the horizontal bar of the T) to achieve innovative, multi-disciplinary works, using chiefly the design thinking methodology.

Key deliverables expected and timelines for completion

A teaching kit embodying the design thinking methodology will be developed and field tested in eight workshops throughout the three-year period. The workshops will be conducted in an interdisciplinary context with at least two units of the University each time.

Arrangements for evaluation of project deliverables/outcomes

Progress report will be written at the end of each year to document the findings of the workshop, reflecting on the state of diffusion and adoption by other units within CUHK. Qualitative interviews and observations and quantitative surveys will be conducted during the third year in conjunction with the write-up of the final report for impact assessment of the project.

Means for disseminating project deliverables/outcomes

An electronic version of the teaching kit will be available online for download and key scenes of the workshops will be taped and made into streaming video for webcasting use. If deemed useful, workshops or webinars will be hosted to share the experience. Both the links to the PDF file and webcast channel will be disseminated through various social media networks and e-learning portals for continuous promotion.
