Curriculum
Aiming at training graduates with all-round competence in a wide range of capabilities in addition to the professional knowledge in their specialty, our curriculum is designed very distinctly from the traditional subject knowledge-based teaching and learning.
Vision
To provide the best training for students who wish to dedicate their careers in biomedical sciences.
Features
OUR Lecutre Courses
-

begin with the introduction of various top model organisms used in cell and molecular biology research
-

cover advanced topics in fields of cell and molecular biology, including protein trafficking, signal transduction, genomics, and cell biology of stem cell and cancer cell
-
introduce the latest developments and foci in the fields

OUR Student-Oriented Teaching (STOT) courses
- are on 1 teacher-on-1 student basis
-

cover skills on how to formulate a good scientific report in the first year, including literature research, data handling and presentation, and scientific writing
-

cover how to identify major issues and formulate idea/hypothesis through scientific literature reading in the second year
-

provide independent research chances to gain hands-on experience, both experimental and conclusion-formulating in the final year

OUR Laboratory Courses
- instruct the most important and up-to-date techniques in cell and molecular biology
-

deal with the handling of several biological models, from prokaryotic microorganisms to eukaryotes (plant and mammalian cells)
- cover fundamental skills in cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry
- familiarize with culturing of plant and mammalian cells
-

introduce practical techniques in fluorescent protein imaging technology, cancer cell biology, cell differentiation, signal transduction, and transgenic studies
-

involve training on experimental design, data acquisition and analysis, as well as formal scientific report formulation
- prepare competence in multi-tasking which resembles scenarios in real research life

OUR Laboratory
-
equips with the state-of-art technologies, including fluorescence and confocal microscopes
-

carries complete lists of essential research equipments for cell and molecular biology research
-

is also accessible outside regular lab hours for students who wish to nurture their interests in doing scientific research
