SHKP and CUHK invite two Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences
to lecture in November
Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) and The Chinese University of Hong
Kong (CUHK) have invited two Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences
to lecture in Hong Kong from November 9 to 11, in the first of the
Sun Hung Kai Properties Nobel Laureates Distinguished Lectures series.
A limited number of free tickets will be distributed to the public
on a first-come, first-served basis, to give Hong Kong people a chance
to benefit from the lecturers' scholarship and contributions to humanity.
The
public lectures will be on 9 November. Details are as follows:

two Nobel Laureates will also share their wisdom and insights with
staff of SHKP on 10 November. University and secondary school students
are also invited to a special Conversation with Two Nobel Laureates
session on 11 November.

Sun Hung Kai Properties Nobel Laureates Distinguished Lectures are
made possible by a generous donation from the title sponsor. The series
is intended to promote the dissemination of knowledge and professional
and entrepreneurial expertise, and to encourage scholarly pursuits
and contributions to humanity in the areas recognized by Nobel Prizes.
Professor
A Michael Spence is a Professor Emeritus at Stanford University in
the USA and a pioneer in the field of signaling in economics. His
model has applications in many fields, in particular corporate governance.
Professor Spence's lecture will be on Economic Growth, the Internet
and the Evolving Structure of Global Markets: Opportunities and Challenges.
Sir
James A Mirrlees is a leading contributor to the theory of information
asymmetry in economics. His work provides practical solutions to problems
in insurance and credit markets, auctions, organizational structures,
employment compensation, tax systems, social insurance, political
institutions and other areas. His lecture will be on Ageing and
Pensions in the Chinese Economies.
