Research Interest : Siumi Maria Tam's research interests include cultural identity, family, and work, especially in relation to migration and concepts of gender in Chinese societies. Her recent research focuses on the ideology and practice of family membership among men and women, as manifested in mistress-keeping across the Hongkong-China border. At present she is editing a book on the women of South China, and another one on the change in Tung Chung before and after the construction of the Chek Lap Kok Airport.
