Academic Research Sponsorship Scheme
To promote research in Catholic Studies, the Centre established various program on cooperation or sponsorship, for local or non-local scholars to apply. For those who are interested, please choose the relevant item and submit detailed information as listed. Application can be sent to the Centre by email (catholic@cuhk.edu.hk) or mail (Centre for Catholic Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Shatin, New Territories, Hong Kong.) Deadlines of applications are the end of June and the end of December (results will be announced before August and February respectively).
A. Local Scholar Sponsorship Scheme
Proposals for academic research on Catholic Studies from local scholars are welcomed. Priority will be given to projects which are related to those of the Centre. Research sponsorships are on a yearly base, with HK$100,000 as maximum amount from the Centre. Scholars involved in those projects will enjoy library facilities, free car-parking and the on-line forum set up by the Centre. Upon completion of the research project, at least one research product (such as paper or book) should be submitted to the Centre. The Centre will consider to publish it under the name of the ÒCatholic Studies Series of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.Ó The author only need to acknowledge the Centre if the research product is not published under the name of the Centre. For those who are interested, please provide the following information:
1. CV and previous research experience and product;
2. proposed theme, main contents and characteristics of the research project;
3. reason and importance of conducting such research;
4. expected result;
5. project budget and other support.
B. Short-term Visiting Scheme for Non-local Scholar
The Centre will accept non-local scholars for short-term visit, lasting not more than six months. The Centre will provide living allowance of not more than HK$200,000 per month, depending on qualification. Visiting scholars are entitled to the library facilities of the University. This scheme is mainly for research and writing, but not excluding teaching and other academic activities. Upon completion of the visit, the visiting scholar has to submit at least one research product (such as paper or book). The Centre will consider to publish it under the name of theÒCatholic Studies Series of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.Ó The author only need to acknowledge the Centre if the research product is not published under the name of the Centre. For those who are interested, please provide the following information:
1. CV and previous research experience and product;
2. nature of visiting (such as research, writing and teaching);
3. proposed theme, main contents and characteristics of the research project;
4. reason and importance of conducting such research;
5. expected research result;
6. reasons for coming to Hong Kong to conduct such research;
7. other needed support.
C. Publication Scheme
The Centre is going to publish a series of books calledÒCatholic Studies Series of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.ÓPublication proposals and manuscripts are welcomed. Upon acceptance of the proposal, the author should submit the final draft for review, edit, proofread and publish. The Centre will be responsible for the publication fee. No renumeration will be given for writing but the author will obtain not less than 20 copies of the publication. The Centre owns the copyright of the printed and on-line versions of the book. The author can publish the book in mainland China in simplified Chinese two years after the original publication in Hong Kong with the written permission from the Centre.
