The International Conference on Humanistic and Engaged Buddhism - Patterns and Prospects is scheduled to be held from Monday, May 18 through Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Foguang University in Illan, Taiwan. Over the proposed period, the conference will bring together leading scholars and representatives of the new Buddhism to reflect on the history, teachings, practices, and future of these movements. The conference will feature addresses of representatives of the new Buddhism, panel presentations by authorities in the field of Buddhist Studies, and opportunity for discussion by the academic community in attendance.
