The College Chapel
Built in 1961, the College Chapel is situated half way up the hill along Chung Chi Road. Its colourful blocks of granite were indigenous and excavated while developing the College campus. The most unique architectural design is the ceiling high glass window with a cross inlay behind the altar suggesting that the congregation can have direct communication with God without barrier. Also, it symbolizes that the Chapel and the world are distinct but not separate and personal faith provides incentive for social ethics. The love of God gives impetus to charity of human kind, resounding the noble theme engraved on the archway at the entrance: Sublime is Love for All.
There are 13 emblems belonging to the 13 Christian universities in China hung on the Chapel walls. They symbolize the continuation of Christian university education in Hong Kong.
The Chung Chi Chapel is also the centre of many College activities from academic to cultural. Every Friday, Chung Chi students gather at the Chapel for assembly as part of their College general education requirement.
