Courseware Development Grant Scheme (2008¡V09)
Call for Applications
Introduction
The Academic IT Steering Committee (AITSC) has received from the Resource Allocation Committee a budget of $1 million per annum for three years, starting from 2007¡V08 to establish a Courseware Development Grant Scheme (CDGS). AITSC is now inviting applications from members of the teaching staff for projects funded under this allocation. Projects must be related to UGC-funded courses and programmes.
Aim
The aim of this CDGS is to encourage teachers to move forward from the basic use of eLearning towards developing more sophisticated or more complete eLearning environments for their students.
Project Scale
In view of this aim, applicants should devise proposed projects with a budget in the order of $50,000, with a maximum $100,000. Applicants can refer to some showcases of previous products from CDGs developed with a similar scale of funding: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/resources/showcase.htm. Smaller projects will be considered but will have a lower priority.
Application Procedure
An application form can be downloaded from http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/cdgs/cdgsapply08.doc. Applicants should provide a brief description of the project, a timeline, a clear evaluation plan and a budget estimated at an item level. Please note that hardware items are not covered under the CDGS.
Completed application forms should be sent to Mr. Morris Kwok, Secretary of the Academic IT Steering Committee, c/o Information Technology Services Centre, no later than 28 Sept 2008.
Project requirements
- Grant recipients shall complete their projects as soon as possible and put the developed electronic courseware or environments on the web for access by students within 12 months of the commencement date of the project.
- Evaluation is required for all projects. Advice and resources are available to assist grant recipients in developing an effective evaluation strategy. A short final report is required, for which a template will be provided.
- Grant recipients may also be required to:
- showcase the developed website to members of the University; and
- take part in experience-sharing sessions.
Support and Consultation
Advice in preparing the proposal and estimating the budget is available through a support and consultation service (the eLearning Service) by making an appointment at http://www2.cuhk.edu.hk/els/requestform/requestform.php
