Courseware Development Grant Scheme (2011-12)
First Round: Call for Applications (Closed)

Introduction

The Academic IT Steering Committee (AITSC) has received from the Resource Allocation Committee a budget of $0.7 million for Courseware Development Grant Scheme (CDGS) 2011-12. AITSC is now inviting applications from members of the teaching staff for projects funded under this allocation. Projects must be related to UGC-funded courses and programmes. The deadline of this call for applications is 17 November 2011.

Aim

The aim of this CDGS is to encourage teachers to move forward from the basic use of eLearning towards developing more sophisticated or more complete eLearning environments for their students.

Project Scale

In view of this aim, applicants should devise proposed projects with a budget in the order of $50,000, with a maximum $100,000. Smaller projects will be considered but will have a lower priority.

Examples of some showcases of previous products of CDGS can be found in http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/resources/showcase.htm. We are also inviting some experienced users to give us presentation on the coming CUHK Expo that would be held on 11 November, 2011(http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/expo/). Showcases presented in last year’s CUHK Expo can be found at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/expo2010/.

Application Procedure

An application form can be downloaded from the eLearning website: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/cdgs/cdgsapply11.doc [link removed]. Applicants should provide a title, a brief description of the project, a timeline, a clear evaluation plan and a budget estimated at an item level. Please note that hardware items are not covered under the CDGS. Also, applicants should indicate whether the project is funded by other sources.

Completed application forms in MS Word or PDF format should be sent through email to carol@itsc.cuhk.edu.hk, Ms. Carol Chiu, Secretary of the Academic IT Steering Committee, no later than 17 November 2011. Please do not send hardcopy applications.
