Coursera for Campus Response Program

Background

  1. Coursera is a leading massive open online course (MOOC) platform with a vision to provide anyone, anywhere with access to the world's best education.

  2. The University announced an agreement to partner with Coursera in February 2013 and has been offering MOOCs on the platform since then.

  3. In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), Coursera announced the "Coursera for Campus Response Program" (the Program) to offer impacted universities in the world with free access to its courses and specializations.

  4. Under the Program, universities can provide their enrolled students with access to more than 3,800 courses and 400 specializations from Coursera's top university and industry partners.

  5. Students are allowed to enroll to courses and specializations offered under the Program until July 31, 2020 (after which month-to-month extensions depending on prevailing risk assessments may be provided by Coursera). Students who enroll on or before July 31 will continue to have access to the enrolled course until September 30, 2020.

  6. The University joined the Program in March 2020.

  7. A CUHK outgoing exchange student (who has enrolled courses in partner institutions during 2019/20 Term 2 but is unable to complete the courses using face-to-face mode at the partner institutions due to COVID-19) can complete his/her study at CUHK with credits by pursuing an "Independent Study" course (if no relevant courses are being offered in the current term at CUHK).

  8. Teachers supporting impacted students and impacted students are encouraged to use the courses and specializations offered under the Program to design the "independent study" scheme for the students.
