With funding from the TDG project 'Aligning an eLearning Service to the needs of programmes', the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) and the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) are pleased to work together in providing the new 'eLearning Service at CU' (eLS@CU). This support service has been designed to assist teachers at the Chinese University in utilizing technology to meet the University's mission of excellence in teaching and learning.

The eLS@CU includes:

Sub-header: At the level of faculty, department and programme

Master course information page
This ensures access to clear and complete information of all courses available in the University for the benefit of both current and prospective students. Access will be through Faculty/ Department websites.

Customized support and training
Working with departments/ programmes on developing a profile of their current use of eLearning technologies, and customizing support and training which might be needed for enhancement.

Sub-header: For Course Teachers and Supporting Staff

Course design consultation service
Providing consultation services to teachers on course design from both pedagogical and technical points of view.

eLearning clinic
Opening of the eLearning Clinic on every Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. This clinic will provide free face-to-face assistance to teachers on eLearning matters.

Hands-on support
Providing advice and hands-on support to teachers in adopting the available functions in the central eLearning platforms.

eLearning Resources Centre (eLRC)
Establishment of a virtual eLearning Resources Centre (eLRC) which provides teaching staff with a variety of eLearning resources (e.g. banners, photo gallery, templates, learning objects, tools and FAQ advice) and discussions.

Seminars and showcases
Seminars will be linked to resources and discussions in the eLRC. Examples are:

Should I put all my course notes online?
How do peer review activities work best online?
How can I manage forums so that I don't read thousands of messages?

Course review and evaluation service
Conducting evaluations with students and teachers about their eLearning experiences.
