A general survey of the pure theory of international trade and an examination
of its relation to both international and domestic policies. Major topics include:
the theory of comparative advantage, international trade and factor process,
income distribution, economic development, trade policy and economic welfare.
Suggested preparation: ECO 1011 and 1021.

The main topics of this course are: international financial markets, the effects
of balance-of-payments disequilibrium and exchange rate changes on the domestic
macroeconomy, various approaches to the determination of balance-of-payments
and exchange rates, the evolution and the present condition of the international
monetary system, monetary integration, floating vs. fixed exchange rates, and
some recent concerns such as the oil price and Third World debt.
Suggested preparation: ECO 1011 and 1201.
