ELTU 2455 Expository Writing (ARTS/EDU/LAW/SSC)

This course is designed to help students learn expository writing skills. Students are introduced to the nature and conventions of expository writing in different genres and learn the skills to produce expository texts such as essays, summaries, reviews and reports. Attention will also be paid to register, cohesion, organisation and stylistic devices. Students are required to go through the stages of process writing as well as giving and receiving critical feedback on each other’s work. Specific skills to be developed include citation, paraphrasing, acknowledging sources, and avoiding plagiarism. (This course is only open to S6 entrants from the Faculties of Arts, Education, Law and Social Science.)
