Explorer Li Lok Sze shared her experience in South Pole with staff and students and talked about the problems of global warming.

Energy wise workshop introduced the energy saving measures adopted by the University and methods to reduce the use of electricity in workplace.

Training is an important part in enhancing environmental awareness of staff and students. During 2001 and 2005, 580 new CUHK staff attended talks which introduced basic knowledge of chemical waste disposal, waste classification, and improving indoor air quality, as well as other ways to protect the environment in the workplace.

Besides, CUHK has organized many workshops and seminars about global environmental issues for its students and staff. For example, Christine Loh, Chairperson of the Society for Protection of the Harbour examined the environmental impacts of the Wanchai Reclamation Project; and Mei Ng, Director of Friends of the Earth analyzed the problems associated with modern production. Other popular activities include eco-tour and bird watching.
