Butterfly World

Stay near me ... do not take thy flight!
- William Wordsworth

There are about 16,000 recorded species of butterflies in the world; among them, 1,300 species can be found in China. Hong Kong has 235 species. According to John Tse of the Medicine Facultys Laboratory Animal Services Centre, about 80 butterfly species have been observed on the CUHK campus and more than 70 of them are digitally recorded. If you want to see butterflies, you can go to the nursery of the Landscape Section near Ming Wah Tang or the area around Weiyuan Lake and the brook by the side of the Chung Chi chapel, anytime throughout the year except January and February. Before you go, you may first take a look at these fascinating photographs taken by John, a butterfly aficionado.
