Study Scheme

Undergraduate Major Programme

Students are required to complete a minimum of 66 units of courses as follows:

(i) Required Courses (12 units/4 courses):

  • History and the Historian (Introductory)1

  • History and the Historian (Advanced)2

  • Tradition and Transformation in Chinese History

  • Tradition and Transformation in Western History

(ii) Elective Coursesกต (54 units/18 courses)

กตStudents may select up to 12 units (4 courses#) offered by the Department of Anthropology (ANT2310, 2340, 2520, 3430) as elective courses.

  ANT2340 Magic, Myth, and the Supernatural
  ANT2520 Globalization and Culture
  ANT3430 Cultures of Chinese Overseas

 

Notes: 1
Those students who have passed the Chinese History subject with credit (C or above) in HKCEE*, or HKALE (AS/AL)* examinations may be exempted, by application to the Department, from this requirement by taking any other 3-units History course which is not concurrently used to fulfil other History Major requirements.

Those students who have passed the World History subject with credit (C or above) in HKCEE*, or HKALE (AS/AL)* examinations may be exempted, by application to the Department, from this requirement by taking any other 3-units History course which is not concurrently used to fulfil other History Major requirements.
