1. Introduction

Eligible applicants will be reimbursed 80% of their fees, subject to a maximum sum of HK$10,000, on successful completion of a reimbursable course or module forming part of the course.

2. Our CEF Recognized Courses

Among the courses offered in the M.A. programme in Comparative and Public History, three courses are CEF recognized. They are:

  • Antiquities and Monuments in Hong Kong (HIS5559)

  • Commerce and Society in China, 1368-2000 (HIS5556)

  • Festivals and Popular Religions in Modern China (HIS5566)

When applying for CEF, applicants must provide the following information:

  • "Fees actually paid" on the application form – The fee for every CEF course is
    1. Full-time students:
      HK$ 6,875 (admitted in 2005-06 and 2006-07);
      HK$7,250 (admitted in 2007-08).

      Part-time students:
      HK$ 5,262 (admitted in 2005-06);
      HK$ 6,000 (admitted in 2006-07);
      HK$6,500 (admitted in 2007-08).

3. How to Apply

Applicants must:

  • be a Hong Kong resident and have the right of abode in Hong Kong, the right of entry into Hong Kong or the right to stay in Hong Kong without restrictions. People with one-way permits who come to settle in Hong Kong from China can also apply. (Application form must be submitted with copies of one-way permit and Hong Kong Identity Card.)

  • have been admitted into a fee-refundable course and have paid the fees before term starts; and

  • be 18 to 60 years old when submitting the application and applying for a refund.

4. How to Claim Reimbursement

  • Interested applicants should download the appropriate CEF application form from this site, fill out the details and have it stamped by the M.A. Office. The application form together with a photocopy of the HKID card must reach the CEF Office before the commencement date of the reimbursable course. Late applications will not be accepted by CEF Office.

  • Each successful applicant will be provided with a Reimbursement Claim Form (RCF) by the CEF Office.

  • Applicants should bring the RCF and the tuition receipt to the M.A. Office for verification and sealing. Our office will issue a Letter for Certification to students who have successfully completed the claimed course and fulfilled the attendance requirement.

  • "Successful completion" of the course means that the claimants must pass the course as well as have at least 80% attendance.

  • Students should then submit to the CEF Office the completed and certified RCF, the Letter for Certification, together with copies of supporting documents. A successful applicant may submit a maximum of four claims for reimbursement and, in any event, within four years from the date that the application was approved. Each claim may include more than one reimbursable course.
