Scholarships



M.A. Scholarship

The Department of History has set up a scholarship for our M.A. students since 2005-06.

About the Scholarship

  • The scholarship is for students of the M.A. in Comparative and Public History ONLY.

  • Awardees shall be granted HK$5,000 in the final year of study.

  • Each year, two candidates shall be nominated for the awards.

  • The scholarship can be held concurrently with other scholarships.

Critieria for Award

  • Candidates shall be Full-time or Part-time students of the M.A. programme within the normative period of study.

  • Candidates shall obtain the highest GPA in their first year of study.

  • If there are more than two candidates:-

    • Recommendations from a lecturer or instructor of the Department shall be sought.

    • Candidates' written work (e.g. assignments and papers) shall be reviewed.

 

M.Phil. in History Scholarship

The purpose of the M.Phil. in History Scholarship is to support M.A. graduate(s) in pursuing further studies in the M.Phil. Programme in History. Details are as follows:

  1. The Candidate should be either a full-time or part-time M.A. student in their final year of study, or recent graduate* who has applied for admission to the full-time M.Phil. in History Programme.

  2. There is no separate application procedure for the scholarship. All applicants who fulfill the requirement mentioned above will be automatically considered for the scholarship.

  3. A candidate who is admitted to the full-time M.Phil. in History Programme will be awarded the scholarship after the Graduate School officially grants admission.

  4. Scholarship award recipient will receive a monthly studentship from the University during his/her normative study period.

  5. Scholarship award recipient will be required to carry out certain duties (which may include teaching and research assistance) as part of the training for his/her postgraduate studies. The duties will be prescribed by the Department Chairman.

* To qualify for the scholarship, M.A. degree holders should apply for admission to the full-time M.Phil. in History Programme within five years after graduation.
