Advocacy
The Gender Research
Centre reaches out to the community
and advocate social action to improve gender equality.
Through its Annual Gender Roles Workshops, the
Gender Research Centre takes on an active role to promote gender
awareness and social changes in the community.
We maintain close links with local and
international women's organizations. Our members have served as
consultants to community groups and public bodies on gender issues. We
have also commented on public policies and consultation papers related to
women's concerns.
For example, our 2000 Annual Workshop on Beijing Plus Five
in February was instrumental in influencing the Hong Kong government's
decision to set up the Women's Commission in May that year.
