3.1 Design Website Layout

Web Administrator(s) may design their departments' own layouts as they see appropriate. The following tools might be helpful during the process. Your department can also request ITSC's website design service with an extra cost. Please contact ITSC for details. Preparing Simplified Chinese Webpages (HanWEB) You may use the HanWEB server to automatically translate your Traditional Chinese webpages to Simplified Chinese webpages (or vice versa), saving the extra effort to prepare Simplfied Chinese web content. For static webpages: Apply for CUHK Web Hosting Service; or Setting up your own departmental server for hosting space, then apply for CUHK Hostname Service and Web Address Redirection Service. For dynamic webpages (including PHP, Content Management System and database): Publishing on 'Logic' server; or Request ITSC's special Web Hosting Service with an extra cost; Please contact ITSC for details; or Setting up your own departmental server for hosting space, then apply for CUHK Hostname Service and Web Address Redirection Service. Details Back to top of page Departmental Search Button Google Custom Search can be used to provide web page indexing and searching service to CUHK web sites, enabling searching for both within department websites and entire CUHK website. Normal Search Simple Search Compact       Details Back to top of page Feedback Form A Feedback Form script can help you collect and receive readers' comment. Details Back to top of page Access Statistics To track the number of access to a certain page, you may use the Access Counter to do so. You may also have a detailed statistics for your department. The statistics will include the number of hits for every file. It will contain the statistics from the last four weeks, and will be updated on every Sunday. 3.4 Webmaster Community

A Webmaster community was set up in view of strengthening the communication and collaboration among CUHK webmasters and web administrators, strengthening the collective brand of CUHK, and achieving best industry practices. The webmaster community is spearheaded by the Information Services Office (ISO) and the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC). The 1st (2012) Webmaster Community Meeting was held on 12 Dec 2012.
