CUHK Team won the Business Administration
Papers of
the Year 1999 Business Strategy Competition
of HKFBS
The Faculty of Business Administration at The Chinese University of
Hong Kong aims to develop high caliber managerial and business talents
in Hong Kong to meet with the ever-changing business world.
The Faculty's effort has once again been rewarded: the CUHK team has
recently won the "Business Administration Papers of the Year 1999 - Business
Strategy Competition" organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Business
Students (HKFBS). Team members consist of four outstanding undergraduate
business students: Miss Cheung Wai Kei (Year 3 student of Marketing), Miss
Kan Wing Yan Regina (Year 3 student of Professional Accountancy Programme),
Miss Mai Wai Lam (Year 2 student of Professional Accountancy Programme)
and Miss Tang Hoi Ming (Year 3 student of Marketing). Miss Kan Wing
Yang Regina also won the “Best Presenter Award” of the year.
This annual competition provides a precious opportunity for tertiary
business students to apply theories acquired from their university study
to real business cases. This year, participants were requested to
design a strategy for a listed local jewelry and watches company to expand
their market share in the USA. An evaluation committee comprising
renowned business people including Mr. Frank Chen of Chekiang First Bank;
Mr. David Wong of Egana International (Holdings) Ltd.; Mr Albert Cheng,
Current Affairs Commentator; Mr. Paul Pong of Pegasus Fund Managers Ltd.;
Mr. Bruno Lee of Fidelity Investments Management (HK) Ltd.; Mr Henry C.
Steel of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing etc. and professors from the
seven universities evaluated on the seven reports submitted by each university.
Only four finalists, including teams from The Chinese University of Hong
Kong, Baptist University, Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong University
of Science and Technology, were selected to enter the final round of competition
- Oral Presentation Day held on 20 February, 2000 at the Hong Kong Convention
& Exhibition Centre.
The magnificent performance of CUHK team in this competition (the winner
in all but one year in the recent history of the competition) reflects
the quality of our students and the quality of education provided by our
Faculty.
The Faculty of Business Administration at CUHK will continue to provide
quality education, so as to foster future generations of globally minded
entrepreneurs in HKSAR.
