CUHK Honours Scholarship Donors
for their Generous Support to Outstanding First-year Students


           Many brilliant students with outstanding entrance examination results are admitted into The Chinese University of Hong Kong every year.  To recognize the scholastic achievements of those newly admitted, CUHK and its constituent Colleges have presented to many of them scholarship awards.  These scholarships encourage these exemplary new students and have greatly motivated them to strive for excellence in their university studies.   

           "Galloping Horses" Presentation Ceremony was held today where the University and scholarship recipients could express their sincere gratitude to the generous donors.  Dr the Honourable Rosanna Wong Yick-ming, Chairman of the Education Commission and Professor Arthur Li, Vice Chancellor of CUHK officiated at the Ceremony.   

           Yuen Ching-wan, a year-one student of the Department of Information Engineering at CUHK, is holder of four scholarships this year.  The scholarships include: Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship, Kunkle and Pommerenke Matriculation Scholarship, Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund Undergraduate Scholarship and Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship.  Ching-wan shared her feeling as a scholarship recipient and expressed her deep gratitude to the donors at the Ceremony.

           Three other outstanding scholarship recipients entertained the guests with a harmonious ensemble of singing, accompanied by the piano and harp.  Grace Chiang, from the Department of Music, Leung Ling-cheung, from the Department of English and Lo Hang-chi, from the Department of Government and Public Administration are awardees of this year's CUHK Sports Scholarships.  Besides their musical talents, they are also outstanding sportsmen.  Grace is a javelin player while both Ling-cheung and Hang-chi are outstanding swimmers.

           "Galloping Horses" Presentation Ceremony was attended by over 200 guests which include donors, scholarship recipients, secondary school principals, teachers and family members of the recipients.
