CUHK's Faculty of Business Administration and HKUST's School of Business
jointly organized a Conference on Chinese Business and Management

A Conference on Chinese Business Management was jointly organized by the Committee on China Research and Development (CCRD)/The Center for Chinese Business Studies (CCBS) of CUHK's Faculty of Business Administration and the Hang Lung Center for Organizational Research (HLCOR) of HKUST's School of Business on December 11-12, 2000 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The conference aims at bringing the expertise from the business faculties of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology together and explores the related topics and issues on Chinese business management. Papers on various areas such as organizational structure, state enterprise reform, potential impact of foreign direct investment on China's telecommunications industry, management of high technology industries etc. will be presented during the two-day conference.

China's accession to the WTO will facilitate further liberalization and opening of its economy. This presents a challenge and a good opportunity for all other Chinese economies, Hong Kong in particular. The Faculty of Business Administration at CUHK has further identified its strategic direction in China's research and development where we intend to further consolidate our existing and proposed China related research in the business sector and to enhance our international reputation.

To achieve this mission, the Faculty of Business Administration set up the Committee on China Research and Development (CCRD) and the Center of Chinese Business Studies (CCBS) in 1999. The Center is now directly managed by CCRD of the Faculty to enhance its research efforts and outputs.
