CUHK Partners with TWGHs on Planning of a Community College
¡@¡@The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is collaborating with the
Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) in the planning of a Community College
to offer Associate Degree Programmes. In response to the societal needs
and in support of the policy objective of the government to increase
the opportunities for tertiary education for local secondary school
leavers, CUHK and TWGHs would like to contribute their complementary
services to undertake this strategic joint venture. TWGHs will provide
land for constructing purpose-designed premises for offering Associate
Degree courses and raise funds for the capital and recurrent programmes
of the proposed Community College and CUHK will be responsible for curriculum
design, academic accreditation and quality assurance in respect of the
academic programmes.
¡@¡@CUHK is renowned for providing
quality tertiary education and its School of Continuing Studies has
actual experience in developing pre-Associate Degree and Associate Degree
courses. TWGHs has long years of experience in offering educational
and social service programmes with outstanding achievements. It is hoped
that the community college will benefit the Hong Kong community through
capitalizing on the strength of both CUHK and TWGHs.
¡@¡@Professor Arthur K C Li,
GBS, JP, Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and
Mr John Ma, Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals signed the Memorandum
of Understanding between CUHK and TWGHs for the Planning of the proposed
Community College.
