Up till now, most Chinese Input Methods require users to make vast efforts in memorization of rules, thus hinders the widespread use of Chinese characters in Computers. Coded with numbers, CKC is an easy-to-use Input System as users are only required to learn a few rules before using it. With its short learning curve which significantly increases efficiency, CKC soon became popular after its launching 5 years ago, and teachers from provinces like Shanghai and ZheJiang are actively involved in its usage and development.

In spite of the advantages brought by CKC, CUHK has a site license programme for using CKC 2002 Chinese version. Each staff member and student of the University, holding a valid CU Link card, is entitled to one CKC 2002 Chinese version license for a computer at home or in a hostel or residence.
