Reminder for Acquiring Software Licenses from
License Programs Coordinated by the ITSC (Year-end Account
Closing)
For the purpose of year-end account
closing for the financial year ending 30 Jun, 2013, any
software license orders charged against 2012/2013 budgets
must be sent to the ITSC by 10
May, 2013. Late orders will be charged against the
2013/2014 budgets.
Each year ITSC negotiates a number of deals with software vendors. This gives departments a coordinated and economical way to acquire and update the software they need. There are two categories of software being coordinated by ITSC:
1. University-wide Software under Central Funding:
For software
that has a widespread demand among departments,
site licenses are purchased under central funding
and thus reduce the overall costs of software
purchase. Departments need only buy the media
and documentation if necessary. Below is a
list of site-licensed software programs and
packages available for departmental use.
*This refers to the Works at Home Use Rights provided by Microsoft Campus Agreement. Check its agreement for details.

2. Discounted Software:
2.1 Discounted Software for
departmental purchase:
ITSC negotiates with software vendors to obtain favourable pricing for software not covered by central funding. Departments can buy the following software from ITSC at substantially discounted prices.
2.2 Discounted Software for staff
and student personal purchase:
* Please purchase the software
from suppliers directly.

3. Other Software:
For software not found in the above list, departments can refer to the suppliers list and purchase from suppliers directly.
