ITSC Digest? What's it about?
We are a new online bi-weekly magazine! Its purpose is to tell you everything you need to know about the upcoming services and events being provided by our Centre.
Learning Technology
Learning Technology (LT) aims at facilitating teaching through the effective uses of technology in instruction, as well as facilitating students in learning. LT ranges from online forums, educational materials, slide processing, to digital video clips and CD ROMs production.
A kick-off seminar on 14 January 1999 addressed "Teaching with Learning Technology: Why? When? How?". In the seminar, we introduced how to integrate Learning Technology into the curriculum. Prof. Tsou Jin Yeu, Dept. of Architecture and Prof. Louis Leung, Dept of Journalism shared with us their experience in this area. Over 120 teaching staff joined this event.
Another series of seminars about Learning Technology will be held between Jan-Feb for our teaching staff. Additionally, there will be four guided tours in late January to the "Learning Technology Laboratory" for you to learn more about our operation. Please refer to for details.
Dial-up Access Quota System Review
Since its first implementation in September last year, the Dial-up Quota System has accommodated more users, made login faster and better utilized the Campus network.
Our system is undergoing regular review and the first adjustment was made in November. The next amendment will be made on February 8 1999, and the Information Technology Services Centre has proposed changes. We thank you for your valuable comments that suggested during the consultation period. The proposal will be revised based on the comments received.
