University-Wide Virus Protection Program
Virus protection is key to the reliability
of our computer systems where most of our daily work take place. The University
has just approved a proposal submitted by ITSC to support a university-wide
virus protection programme.
A tender for a university-wide software solution is being issued. ITSC will
further co-ordinate on the distribution and implementation of the selected product.
The whole project is targeted for completion by the end of August 1999.

Summer Quota Scheme for Dial-up Services
The Dial-up Access Quota System has so far been effective in controlling the
average connection time per user, thereby allowing a larger number of users to
share the same resource. To improve its effectiveness and fairness in resource
allocation, ITSC actively monitors the line usage pattern and adjusts the
quota based on users' needs. In this summer, a revised quota scheme will be applied
to student users. Please visit
