CSC/ITSU Renamed as ITSC Starting from 1 July 2000
Effective 1 July 2000, the Computer Services Centre and the Information
Technology Service Unit will be combined and renamed as the Information
Technology Services Centre (ITSC). The new name has been approved by the
Administrative and Planning Committee (AAPC) of the University.
The name change will not affect the way we serve our users. Our
operations, facilities, and scope of services will remain unchanged,
and, as always, we will continue doing our best to serve the information
technology needs of the University .
Microsoft Certified Professional Program
Microsoft Hong Kong Limited and Infocan Training Limited are now
collaborating with the Universities to offer all University students and
staff the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP,MCSE) & Microsoft Office
User Specialist (MOUS) programmes this summer.
Interested students and staff please attend a briefing session on May
22, 2000 (2:30-4:30 PM) in Room 101 YC Liang Hall of the University.

Summer Quota Scheme for Dial-up Services
A summer quota scheme for Dial-up Services will be effective between
June 5 - September 3. Under this scheme, the weekly dial-up quota units
and prime periods for staff users remain unchanged. For student users,
the weekly dial-up quota units become 3700 and the prime periods are
from 2pm to 1am daily. As usual, the weekly default Dial-up Access Quota
for ResNet users will be half of that of general users. Please visit

Summer ResNet Service for Student Residents
Through the ResNet, student residents can access the Internet and the
Campus Network from their hostels. Online application at
http://register.resnet.cuhk.edu.hk is required to connect to ResNet.
Student residents can register at
http://register.resnet.cuhk.edu.hk
anytime once they have moved into their hostels.
However, the student residents should UN-REGISTER their ResNet
connection (http://register.resnet.cuhk.edu.hk) on moving out. On
unregistering, their weekly default dial-up access quota units will
resume to that of general users on the following Monday. Please visit

Summer Jobs in CSC/ITSU
CSC/ITSU is now looking for student helpers to assist in program
development, web page design and consultation work this summer.
