Please remove the proxy settings of your web browsers NOW. Otherwise,
you will not be able to access overseas webpages through the campus
network.
As announced in the February issue of ITSC Digest, you are advised to
use the University Transparent Proxy server which was implemented in
August 2001. With the transparent proxy server, you do not have to
configure your browser using a manual proxy setting. Through this
transparent proxy server, you can also enjoy a relatively faster surfing
speed.

information.
News and FTP Servers Upgraded
In the March issue of ITSC Digest, we invited you to test a new News
Server providing newsgroup service. We thank you very much for your
positive response and comments. As no problems have been reported in the
testing period, the new News Server has been launched to replace the
original server.
In addition to the new News Server, the University's anonymous FTP
server has been upgraded too. You should now experience a faster
transfer speed in using the new FTP server. This server, which has more
memory and storage, is much more powerful than the previous one.
